Long Island License Plates Vol. 3

I have to say, this one is the best I've seen in a while haha.  Spotted in New Hyde Park.

Manhattan License Plates Vol. 2

I stopped doing these for the most part- but this one I had to post because it must be a sign.
Seen last night parked on the corner of 27th and 3rd Avenue, 2AM.

Batman; Queens License Plates Vol. 11

Batman is my favorite superhero.
The setting, the characters and the grittiness of Gotham (based on "Manhattan below 14th street") appealed to me more so than any other comic. I think it's due to my Long Island City upbringing, where I always had a view of the early 1990's NYC skyline. I would come home from school and watch Batman: The Animated Series, surrounded by the older New York that resonated with Bruce Wayne's world.
The city today is so different, that there are no longer any remnants of the Caped Crusader--save for the rare searchlight every so often.
Which is why it was cool to come across this the other night:

A little OD, but definitely appreciated! It was debadged in the back as well (couldn't get a pic of the art on the rear lid).

Queens License Plates Vol. 10; Fall in NYC

It's been a month since I updated!
I'll start this off with some pictures from last night. On our way back from Paranormal Activity 2 (which was awesome in my opinion), my friend and I stopped for some desi groceries in Jackson Heights. Enjoy.
Some Paki guy in Jackson Heights
This car was for sale so obviously hustlin wasn't working out

Rajbhog Sweets
Alauddin Sweets
Stuff I should not have been eating.

In other happenings:

I was in a car accident (while changing lanes) but thankfully all of that is dealt with and my car is like new again. No one was hurt which is the important part.

My cat sleeps in my wardrobe.

And I've become a bit of a social recluse as of late because I'm concentrating more on my family and developing myself career-wise.

I've also become a lot more motivated physically because of my family. My mom lost her dad to cancer when she was one, and her mom and sister have diabetes. On my dad's side my grandpa passed away last year and my grandma has heart disease. My parents as well as most of my desi friends' parents are struggling with heart problems left and right so it's a bit of a wake up call. Working from home I'm pretty much at my desk all day. After work I'm not motivated to do much else...and I haven't developed the best eating habits over the past year.

I decided to see a trainer this month and I've already noticed some differences. Mainly in my attitude- before I would tell myself that I just can't do a push-up or a squat and now I'm finding that I can. I've been going to the gym a couple times a week for the past few years without even pushing myself or changing up my routine, so I'm poorly conditioned and it's going to take a lot of work. He has me going five times a week now.

Eating healthier has been the hardest part, especially with my mom making white rice with our food all day. After just one week of switching to small portions of whole wheat/brown rice and cutting out starches past 3PM, I've seen a lot of fat go.
Hopefully I can keep this up and set a better example for my younger sisters-- they hate eating anything without sugar and it's not like I've been teaching them any better. Maybe I'll have a really awesome update on my progress a few months from now :)

Oh, and I asked the trainer about cookies and cupcakes. He said they're okay in moderation and I have a two cookie a day limit haha.

Queens License Plates Vol. 9

This isn't a plate but had to post it. I want a GT-R :(

Jettas are super-cute. This one runs on diesel.

Stay away from this man.

For Leenoid! (Lakers plates from the NY DMV)

Queens License Plates Vol. 8

This one is just a link to my friend Tanzil's blog- he's accumulated quite a lot of pictures. He was a little lazy (: and threw all of them into one post. If you look closely you can even see my own plate lol.

Queens License Plates Vol. 7

Saw two dance plates today. The other one said "5678Danc." So cute (this one seems a bit raunchy to me).

I've sat down on several occasions over the past few weeks to try and write. I don't know why things just don't move me anymore. Maybe it's because I'm content, and finally feel "settled." Or maybe it's because I'm not energized enough (by the time I get to writing, it's already 1130PM and past my bedtime). I can't believe it's 2010 first of all, and secondly, that it's already MARCH. At least I have some exciting stuff planned aH- visiting my friend from undergrad in Bahrain, then spending a few days in London on the way back.

Black forest cupcake from Martha's Country Bakery from this weekend

I'll add an update of my Arabian-British adventure in the near future. Truthfully, I'm kind of glad February is over.

Hahah if I was Sikh, I'd be mad I didn't think of it first.
(From Shuvo...dude is keeping these desi plates coming)

Queens License Plates Vol. 5

Me: Seriously, how many of these Bangalis are out there?
Shuvo: At least 76.

Queens License Plates Vol. 4

Bronx License Plates Vol. 12

I wonder if he/she teaches at my little sisters' school...
And here is a Jersey one--I swear half the plates parked around here in the Bronx are from Jersey anyway, so I decided to throw it in.
Also, I should add that it reminded me of this crappy Indian version of Scream I watched a while back. It was mildly entertaining but at least it starred the only Bollywood actor I follow on Twitter, half-Italian half-Indian @dinomorea9 haha.

Bronx License Plates Vol...Jersey Decepticon?

Yes, this is not really a plate and not even a New York State one at that, but I walked by this earlier today (in the Bronx) and did a double take. And I have to say that this debadging trumps most of the plates I've posted haha. Kind of want it, it's pretty badass.

And if for some reason you are not Transformers savvy- go here.

Bronx License Plates Vol. 11

Queens has the DHAKA plates, but the Bronx has...
It's a plate that would make Lal Miah proud. I'm not going to link to his work, I'll leave you to discover that for yourself.
